Data Manager Research


Your function within the department

We are looking for a data manager to aid us in our goal of working towards ‘FAIR’ data stewardship, i.e. making data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable, for translational research studies.

As a data manager, you will be located at the NKI in Amsterdam. You will be introduced to Health-RI tools and services that were selected to achieve this FAIR data stewardship. You will be collaborating closely with the Health-RI data team, which is tasked with getting data into data-integration platforms. Thus, there are two parts to the data manager position:

1. Organising the research data of multidisciplinary projects ensuring it is accessible and findable.
  Your role in this will be to:

  •   Organise the data (local data warehouse)
  •   Load the data and metadata into Health-RI tools (central tools)

2. Preparing the ‘processed’ or ‘final’ data of multidisciplinary projects for import into the data integration platforms tranSMART and cBioPortal.
 Your role in this will be to:

  •  Fill out templates, describe study and experimental metadata
  • Perform final checks of the data in the data-integration platforms, provide feedback

As the number of project grows you may also become involved locally at the NKI by sharing the obtained knowledge on how to store the various data types, so that for new projects, other data managers will also be capable of working towards FAIR data stewardship.

Your profile

  • Team player
  • Good communication skills: will communicate with IT and non-IT people
  • Quality minded
  • Experience with how translational research is performed: experience with clinical trials or molecular biology studies is a plus
  • Experience with Clinical Report Forms is a plus
  • Prior experience with data management is a plus

Your career opportunities and terms of employment

The basis for your employment conditions is according to the CAO hospitals. Based on experience, your salary will be between € 2.102,- and € 3.012,- gross per month based on a 36-hour working week. This is in accordance with FWG 45. In addition, a fixed end-of-year benefit forms part of the secondary conditions. You will start with a contract for a period of 1 year.
