The Director of Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC MU) opens a position PhD Student Position in Molecular Biology and Biochemisry – Group of Regulation of Gene Transcription

A PhD. position is available in the group of Regulation of Gene Transcription (lab pages at: http://www2.ceitec.muni.cz/blazek-lab/.) at the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC), Brno, Czech Republic. The project focuses on emerging cyclin-dependent kinases (mainly Cdk12 and Cdk13) involved in the regulation of gene transcription, modulation of DNA damage responses and onset of ovarian cancer. To address basic biological questions related to the kinases we use advanced techniques of molecular biology and biochemistry including immunoprecipitation coupled with mass spectrometry, chromatin immunoprecipitation, CLIP-seq, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq and others.
CEITEC is a newly established European research center of scientific excellence and its laboratories offer state-of-the-art equipment at the new campus of Masaryk University in Brno. Brno is a pleasant research/university city located 2 hr from Prague and 1.5 hr from Vienna, Austria. Information about the Czech Republic can be found HERE.
- Motivation and interest in biomedical research
- Hold a Master´s degree (or be close to its completion) in molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics or in other related field of life sciences
- Interest in molecular biology/biochemistry; interest in bioinformatics and cancer biology is a plus
- Hands-on experience with basic techniques of molecular biology and biochemistry such as cell culture, western blotting, PCR, cloning, expression of proteins in bacteria, and others are not necessary but are a plus
- Good communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in spoken and written English are required
