Positions for PhD Students and Postdocs: Chromosome structure and transcriptional regulation
Understanding chromosome structure, including how it varies from cell to cell and in time, is fundamental to determine how stochastic and dynamic regulatory interactions between genes and their cis-regulatory elements such as enhancers are translated into robust transcriptional outputs, and result in accurate gene expression. To address these questions, successful candidates will apply existing techniques and develop innovative methods for imaging RNA and DNA, studying chromosome structure in single cells and in time, and analysing quantitative datasets.
We are looking for highly motivated, intellectually curious individuals that enjoy challenging projects aimed at addressing fundamental biological questions, and benefit from cross-disciplinary interactions. We encourage applications from candidates with either an experimental or a computational background. Familiarity with any of the following topics will be considered an advantage but are not mandatory: gene regulation/chromatin biology, live-cell microscopy, or physical modelling. Our lab provides an interdisciplinary environment where communication and organization, as well as the ability to work independently in the context of a larger team, are essential. These skills will be therefore highly valued. A very competitive salary and access to the cutting-edge FMI research facilities will be provided.
