Research Assistant Fellowship

Applications are invited for a Research assistant position in the Membrane Traffic Group at Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC), in the context of the project PTDC/BEX-BCM/3015/2014, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, through national funds (PIDDAC) in the following conditions:


Research field: Mouse models of disease, adipose tissue biology, inflammatory cytokines and their receptors, vesicular trafficking.


Eligibility: Candidates must hold a MSc degree with a final average score of at least 14/20 (or equivalent). Candidates must have practical experience in handling and maintaining mouse colonies. Experience in an area related to histopathology, inflammation, mouse models of metabolism, inflammatory disease and cell signaling, are an advantage. The ability to work independently and in a team is also essential.


Work plan: The candidate will help to develop projects related to the control of inflammatory signaling, particularly a novel regulator of the TNF pathway that our lab has identified. The intersection between inflammation and metabolism will also be explored.


Legislation and regulations: According to Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação and Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), I.P. currently in place.


Work place: The work will be developed at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência, located on Rua da Quinta Grande, 6 in Oeiras, under the scientific supervision of Dr. Colin Adrain.


Duration of fellowship: The fellowship will have the duration of 12 months, predicted to start on March 1st, 2018, renewable until the end of the project (30.04.2019).


Monthly stipend: The fellowship stipend will be €980/month, according to the regulations of the FCT (


Selection procedure: Applications will be evaluated based on Curriculum vitae (25%), Motivation Letter (15%) and references (10%). The best candidates will be selected for an interview (50%).

Notification of results: The results of this call will be sent by email to all candidates and to the FCT.
