Fostering EU-LIFE Community collaboration

EU-LIFE Community members held their annual meeting in Barcelona on 23th and 24th of October. This annual event brings the opportunity to strengthen the on-going EU-LIFE collaborations looking for an optimal environment for excellent research. Open science, scientific collaborations, research infrastructure, technology transfer, funding, career development in research were at the heart of the EU-LIFE working groups discussions.

Two keynote speakers gave the tone for a public session on the future of science. Stephan Kuster, Secretary General of  Science Europe, talked about how advocate for excellent research in Europe: what is ahead for Horizon Europe lobbying, the role and space for advocacy organizations in the policy agenda and how to measure the impact of policy actions. Paul Wouters, professor of scientometrics and director of the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) at Leiden University, highlighted on the future of research evaluation. His keynote was followed by a panel discussion involving several EU-LIFE members and moderated by the PhD in Physics and journalist, Michele Catanzaro.
