Key decisions for the future of EU-LIFE taken in Strategy Meeting 2023 in Warsaw
This year’s EU-LIFE Strategy Meeting was hosted by the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB) on 22-23 November. The EU-LIFE Board of Directors and main representatives of all our members got together to identify current challenges for research institutes and to establish the main priorities of the alliance for the upcoming months.
The many topics covered included European Research & Innovation policy, expansion of the EU-LIFE membership, evolution of EU-LIFE benchmarking of research institutes’ performance and activities for 2024 according to the current EU-LIFE strategic plan.
Main representatives had a session on research culture with invited speaker Rosalind Attenborough, Research Culture & Communities Specialist at the Wellcome Trust. On the other hand, an interactive session was organised for the Board of Directors with the aim to discuss the specific challenges of scientific directors, including how to be resilient to insecure funding and how to manage space in research performance organisations.
All participants had the chance to attend scientific talks on cutting-edge projects by IIMCB researchers Aleksandra Kołodziejczyk, Head of Laboratory of Cellular Genomics, and Jacek Jaworski, Head of Laboratory of Molecular & Cellular Neurobiology and Deputy Director for Science.
