The Mesoscopy Challenge - getting the big picture on whole tissue and organism imaging

Recent developments in 3D whole organ and whole-body imaging have revolutionized our view on tissues and is liberating the research from artificial 2D cell culture. This has opened new windows to investigate 3D cultures systems and organs and changed our view on whole model organisms such as zebrafish, Drosophila, Xenopus, rodents and plants. This revolution however, also comes with new challenges for imaging the large volumes, data analysis and sample handling.

To give more insights on how to tackle the mesoscale challenge, this training event will showcase different approaches to mesoscale imaging from both VIB research labs as well as renowned international scientists. Presentations will span different imaging techniques including light sheet microscopy, slide scanning, phenotypic plant imaging and microCT. The event will also highlight novel applications on sample handling and will introduce you to the opportunities in cutting edge large scale imaging and show you how it can enhance your own research.

This training targets scientists who want to keep up-to-date with the latest evolutions in the field of whole mount, whole animal and mesoscale imaging. The training is aimed at PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, technicians or other scientists with a molecular biology background.
