The EU-LIFE ERC Masterclass is featured on FEBS Communications!

Members of the EU-LIFE Grants & Funding Strategies Working Group (GF WG) published the article ‘EU-LIFE ERC Masterclass: Pooling expertise across Europe to boost successful ERC applications’ on FEBS Communications last week!
 

One of the most impactful outcomes of the GF WG is the ERC Masterclass, held annually since 2021 with the aim to support ERC Starting and Consolidator applicants from EU-LIFE research institutes. Organised as an online workshop, it gathers grants experts and leading scientists from EU-LIFE with experience in the ERC.

This activity has proved to be very valuable to participants, whose feedback has always been highly positive. Workshop attendees really appreciate the whole training, particularly the interaction with former panel members and grantees in the testimonial and brainstorming sessions.

On the other hand, there is great added value for the Grant Officers who organise the masterclass. They get insight into other training styles and the types of support offered by other institutions, also fostering a culture of good practices and collaboration.

As the members of the GF WG became aware of the key role of the EU-LIFE ERC Masterclass among ERC applicants in their institutions, they have shared their experience in different forums beyond the EU-LIFE alliance. In April 2024, they presented the masterclass to research managers from all over Europe in the EARMA Conference 2024, and just a few days ago they reached out to the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) community with an article published in FEBS Communications.
