Iris Uribesalgo joined EU-LIFE as Policy Officer in May 2023. She holds a degree and a PhD in Biomedicine from the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona), and has more than 14 years of research experience in international leading institutes in the life sciences such as the Center of Genomic Regulation (CRG) and the Institute for Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA).

From 2019, she has channelled her research experience to focus on other aspects of science. She has acted as grant writer and consultant for Horizon 2020 & Horizon Europe proposals and international grants, and participated in numerous projects as the scientific writer of the Kids Corona platform (SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital) and the BCNatal Fetal Medicine Research Center.

Iris has also managed EU projects such as the Innovative Training Network (ITN) INTERCEPT-MDS involving multiple European partners from the public and private sector working as a scientific project manager at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC), and has developed training workshops for researchers in cross-cutting topics such as integrating the gender dimension in research.
