Member of EU-LIFE’s Board of Directors Michael Wakelam passed away
The EU-LIFE community is deeply sad by the passing away of one of its Board of Directors’ member: Michael Wakelam, Director of The Babraham Institute, who died on 1st of April from respiratory complications arising from a suspected Covid-19 infection.
Michael Wakelam was an enthusiastic and constructive colleague who gave his best to science. Being a strong advocate of the power of joining forces and working in close connection with other European institutes, he was instrumental for building the EU-LIFE alliance as it is today.
Michael’s positive attitude and warm personality were an inspiration for all EU-LIFE community. His loss is tragic for the scientific community and he will be dearly missed.
Our thoughts go to his family and to our colleagues at Babraham institute in this difficult moment.
The Babraham Institute has opened a book of remembrance for anyone who would like to share their memories of Michael or tributes to him. Please email these to comms@babraham.ac.uk.
