The UK referendum: EU-LIFE supports collaborative research with UK-based scientists

EU-LIFE which spans over 7200 researchers in 13 European countries is committed to international collaboration, with exchange of talent in order to facilitate scientific excellence. Therefore to create consortia based on excellence, we will continue to collaborate with our colleagues in the UK following the referendum on EU membership. We welcome the statements by Commissioner Moedas emphasising the UK’s continued eligibility for funding under the Horizon 2020 programme and encourage our colleagues to respect this position and be mindful of any possible bias. EU-LIFE hopes that any future agreement will maintain freedom of movement, maintain the rights of UK scientists in the EU and those of EU scientists in the UK - conditions that are essential to maintain the ability to collaborate effectively with excellent colleagues irrespective of nationality or geography. Science does not have boundaries.
