Congratulations to all new EMBO Members across the world!
Graça Raposo-Benedetti, group leader at the Institut Curie, France, Monica Bettencourt-Dias, group leader at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência, Portugal and Nicolas Thomä, group leader at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research, Switzerland, are this year's new European Molecular Biology Organization-EMBO Members from EU-LIFE Partner institutions.
Maria Leptin, director of EMBO, says in the EMBO press-release: "EMBO Members influence the future direction of science and help to strengthen research communities by encouraging interactions between countries", "We welcome these exceptional scientists to EMBO and look forward to their input".
Each year, EMBO nominates top scientists from the life sciences that develop their work in European countries or associated countries such as the US, New Zealand, Japan and China. This year 58 new members were nominated from 19 countries. The EMBO Membership currently comprises more than 1700 life scientists.
