Spurring collaborations across the ocean: EU-LIFE/FAPESP (Brazil) symposium on Cancer Genomics, Inflammation & Immunity

EU-LIFE and FAPESP - the funding agency of the State of S. Paulo, Brazil have organized a scientific symposium in S. Paulo, Brazil, from 7-9th June 2016.

The meeting aimed at promoting international collaborative research by strengthening relations between scientists from EU-LIFE Institutes and from the state of São Paulo, through a strong scientific program in the field of Cancer Genomics and Immunology. Represented by 14 senior scientists from 8 EU-LIFE member institutes, the EU-LIFE delegation had the opportunity to raise awareness about EU-LIFE within the large scientific community of S. Paulo and meet leading researchers from the targeted fields.

The meeting is the first step of a broader collaboration between EU-LIFE and FAPESP, who have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for scientific collaboration on 7th June 2016. The common goal of both organizations is to foster international scientific collaborations and promote talent circulation.

“The symposium was a great scientific event. We discussed sound science and there was a lot of interaction between EU-LIFE and S. Paulo researchers in an amazingly collaborative atmosphere. We are looking forward for the next step of the EU-LIFE/FAPESP coooperation”, says Marta Agostinho, EU-LIFE Coordinator.
